Why networking is important
29 June 2023

In today’s digital world, it’s easy to forget about the importance of face-to-face interactions but we believe networking remains crucial for growing a business. One of our core values as a business is “human first” and this also remains true when it comes to networking. We believe it is a valuable tool and a way of gaining as many opportunities as possible in order to thrive.

We have been trying to get out and about more recently which has reminded us how important networking still is so we thought we would share our top reasons for networking.

Opportunities: Networking allows you to connect with other business owners and build relationships with other professionals and potential customers which can lead to new business opportunities, referrals, partnerships, and collaborations.

Business trends: Networking can help you stay on top of the latest technology and regulations. It also provides an opportunity to share ideas and          knowledge with others, gain new insights and perspectives You need to know what’s happening in your industry to be able to grow your business accordingly. Learning from others is a valuable strategy for all businesses.

Increased credibility: By attending networking events you can increase brand awareness and establish credibility. Businesses nowadays must be visible to succeed. Networking is a great way to get your business in front of people who might not otherwise know about it.

Connections: “it’s not what you know, but who you know”. This old saying is true when it comes to growing a business. Networking can introduce you to people that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to talk to and can offer a second opinion. You might even find out some advice you hadn’t considered. It can help you improve your products or services and make your business successful. You may also connect with potential clients who are looking for what you offer.

Emotional support: Networking can provide emotional support and a sense of community. It’s important to have a network of people who understand your challenges and can offer encouragement and advice.

Increased confidence: We understand that networking can be hard. Some people are naturally more gifted in mingling with people they don’t know and find it easy to strike up conversations. We have found that regular networking helps. The more you push yourself to talk to people, the more confidence you will gain.

Friendships: We have formed many relationships through networking and some close friends that we can call on when we need them. In addition to this, networking is a great way to meet new people and have fun. It can be a social activity and a great way to build relationships.

Networking helps to raise your profile, connect with new people, grow your confidence, develop a better understanding of your industry and open doors to new opportunities for your business. There are many ways to network and at Your Support Team, we find that we all enjoy different types of networking. Some of us like regular monthly events, some prefer online events, some prefer small intimate local events, some of us prefer workshops and some of us prefer large business fairs. We recommend finding the ones that work best for you.

So, get out there and start meeting people. You never know what opportunities might arise. If you know of any events that we may enjoy we would love to hear from you.
